Just finished analyzing "if he had been with me deep dive He Had Been With Me" by Laura Nowlin for my high school English class and honestly the deeper meanings in this coming of age novel are so layered - the seasonal symbolism woven into the story perfectly mirrors Autumn's character development from innocence to experience, and don't even get me talking about the crown imagery which represents her lost childhood - has anyone else noticed how Nowlin incorporates these repeated motifs to delve into concepts like regret, first love, and the devastating conclusion that looms over the entire story - this YA fiction definitely deserves a thorough literary examination because there's way more depth hidden in the subtext than casual fans pick up on.
